Danny is an undergraduate student at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering. In the long term, Danny hopes to earn a PhD specializing in tissue engineering and cancer cell research. At MIT, Danny hopes to further accelerate his STEM proficiency to eventually make a positive impact on the world around him.
Danny’s full experience at MIT wouldn’t be the same without mentioning his rigorous course load and his research at the Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT. He is an undergraduate research assistant at the Peng lab, focused on synthesizing and upconverting nanoparticles in developing single-particle microscopy techniques in in-vitro cancer cells. In addition, Danny is a natural leader, uplifting others wherever he goes. He served as a coordinator assistant at the Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association, where he worked under Chinatown District leader Justin Yu to hold monthly crime rate conferences with NYPD 5th Precinct, proposed the 70 Mulberry St. reconstruction project to borough president Mark Levine, and networked several mask donation programs to Chinese-run day care centers around New York City.
Furthermore, Danny holds countless awards to his name. He received the Best UDL Policy Debate Team Award, Office of Margaret S. Chin Chinatown Recognition Award, and was named as a National Merit Scholar Finalist, scoring in the top 1% of all PSAT takers. Danny was his high school’s debate captain, vice president of the National Honor Society, and Senior Patrol Leader of Boy Scout Troop 888. On top of all of that, Danny speaks four languages (English, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Fuzhounese), while being proficient in several computer programming languages such as C++, Javascript, and Python.
