Jinho is an undergraduate student at Brown University pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience under a pre-med track. His goal at university is to dive deeper into his interests in science and music while gaining experience in the healthcare field to prepare himself for a career related to medicine.
At Brown, Jinho is a research assistant in the Valdez Lab and is exploring the impact modification of the AJAP1 gene and perisynaptic schwann cells has on the neuromuscular junction of mice and its connections to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. He is also a writer for the Triple Helix Science Journal and a volunteer as part of CareFree Clinic. In his free time, he enjoys playing basketball and saxophone.
Before coming to college, Jinho worked as a math instructor at Mathnasium for several years. He has extensive experience working with younger students and peers, teaching various math concepts up to a calculus level. In addition, Jinho has mastered the craft of test taking – over time, he has perfected successful study skills while independently preparing for AP and SAT tests to which he constantly applies when teaching; as for his academic record, Jinho has scored a near perfect 1580 on his SAT and perfect 5’s on all of his AP exams. When teaching, Jinho analyzes his students from all angles to see what test taking strategies work best for their learning and working style. At Brown, Jinho looks forward to being involved in more peer tutoring and community teaching opportunities in addition to his commitment to Barrett Academies.
