Nick Li

Nick is a sophomore at Brown University pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience under a pre-med track. At university, he looks to build the necessary skills and habits for medical school while forming lifelong connections that will support him in the future.

At Brown, Nick is focused on making an impact within healthcare, specifically in regards to health inequality. He is an active member of QPAAM, a student-led organization focused on improving health care for the queer community and spreading awareness about sexual health. He is also an active volunteer in the emergency department at the Miriam Hospital in Providence. Nick has worked as a medical scribe for Clinic Dermatology, where he took patient histories and worked with physicians, patients, and insurance companies. Outside of school, Nick is a part of Tempo and Daebak, two student-run dance companies at Brown, and enjoys dancing in his free time.

Nick started giving back to the community when he was 15, teaching violin to low income elementary students in Seattle. He then founded a student-run nonprofit organization focused on teaching debate to over 50 middle school students. This involved creating classes, grading homework, and organizing biannual tournaments at local schools for students to compete with one another. During lockdown, Nick set up his own virtual tutoring for high school students across a range of subjects, most notably AP World History and AP Calculus AB/BC. He also interned with the Bellevue School District, where he helped add health inequality issues regarding race and gender to the middle and high school curricula. Overall, Nick is well rounded and deeply committed to making a difference in education.
